Why have a Philosophy of Teaching?
When graduate teachers begin their career it is important for them to have a clear understanding of the theories and principles that underpin teaching as a profession. Teaching is very rewarding, but provides many challenges. The potential to enrich the lives of the students they teach will remain with them forever. To become an effective and respected teacher requires a commitment to continually reflect on what they do, how they do it, and how they can improve and develop as an educator.
In looking at this, teachers need to develop a philosophy of teaching that will enable them to critically analyse and think about how they are going to manage student behaviour, develop effective teaching and learning strategies, provide a positive and effective classroom environment, meet the needs of a diverse group of students, maintain professionalism, and continually reflect on their own development and learning to ensure that their practices are in line with 21st century learners' needs.

But the world may be a better place because I made a difference in the life of a child."
