My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that it is important to provide a secure environment where students feel safe to grow and learn without fear of failure or ridicule. I strive to provide an environment free of emotional and physical harm, and I support the rights of all students to learn and achieve personal growth while feeling respected and valued as an individual. I believe that all students, regardless of culture, background, religion, race or disability will feel welcome in my classroom and will be a valued and essential member of the class.
I will deliver an engaging and diverse curriculum that will provide opportunities for all students to be active participants in their learning journey, facilitate opportunities for students to extend themselves both personally and collaboratively to embrace a diverse and rich environment, and I will acknowledge and celebrate all achievements no matter how small.
I will provide effective classroom management and behavioural guidelines, in collaboration with my students, so that they know what is expected and are given the opportunity to grow into self-assured and autonomous individuals who value their own educational journey and develop a love of learning.
I am committed to lifelong learning and strive to make myself a better teacher, availing myself of every opportunity to learn and develop my own teaching skills. I will use reflective practices to monitor and develop effective and relevant learning experiences. I will build a collegial base, which will enable reciprocal sharing of best practice teaching ideas and strategies to enhance my own professional knowledge and development.
I strive to create an open and welcoming environment for both parents and the wider community in an effort to encourage learning partnerships. I will embrace the school community as a whole, and foster positive family and community relationships to provide a well-supported and consistent learning environment for all students.
